Album cover ideas

We thought as another possible idea for our album cover, something similar to this. So we would take a picture of "Hannah" and then photoshop it onto a picture of a fairtale background or something really happy and bright to match the genre of her music. This is a good example of a where they have photoshoped the photo onto a cartoon back ground. The sort of things that we would like to include in our background picture would be sunshine, very disney , and playful things.

Album Cover & Digipack

In our audience profile, we have stated that Danielle Jacques has just left a girl group called 'Sexy Sarah' who had 3 number 1 singles, which means they must of been very well known, and very liked as a group. Danielle has decided to go solo, which means she needs to really hit the music buisness like a storm!

This situation has happened many times within the industry. Robbie Williams left Take That. Mutya Beuna left the sugababes, and even Cheryl Cole with Girls Aloud. Each of these artists needed an album which focussed intially on them.

All of these images focuss very much on the singer. This is what we need to do with Danielle Jacques album cover. I particually like Mutya Buena's album. There are two reasons. I love the title 'Real Girl'. The sugababes have always had a lot of stick in the music buisness, because of the line up changes, which have made them look like 'bitches' and have always had stories making out that none of the group get along. The title of the album naturalises all of this. It is as if she is saying, 'This is the real me'. I think that in her situation, this is exactly what she needed. The second thing I love about this album cover is how natural she looks. If you googled her, you woould see, her hair is always done over the top, she wears way to much makeup and has an extreme amount of piercings on her face. All of this has been stripped back to go with the 'Real Girl' look.

Filming Evaluation

Last week we filmed our music video. This footage is so much better than our draft footage. We filmed on the Tuesday night in the main hall, and had organised Miss Sutton, who operates the stage lighting, to set the stage lights for us. This was for 2 reasons. Firstly to make it look like a stage school, because that is the type of 'look' we are looking for, and secondly to actually light the stage and to make the video itself look proffesional. We also got all of our actresses/dancers in a proper costume. Each of them wore a white top with black leggins and black socks, apart from the Main girl, who wore a pink top, black leggins and ugg boots. The pink was very light, but it still made a difference to what she was wearing and made her stand out infront of the other 3 girls.

Danielle Jacques

Danielle Jacques is the new ‘best thing!’ She comes straight from the girl group ‘Sexy Sarah’ which included band members; Charlotte Haige, Stacey Bashmore and Hayley Carr who had 3 number 1 singles, including ‘I bet ya’, ‘Talking ‘bout me’ and their debut single ‘Straight’. Their first album, ’Three’s a Charm’ rocketed to the number 1 spot in the album charts and stayed their for a record breaking 8 weeks! After having immediate success with their first album, they later realised their second album, “Sweet & Sour” which reached the top 40 album chart but was not a successful as the first. After one sell out tour, the girls decided to let their success rest for a while and when coming back with their third album “Girls with their hairbrush”, the British public had forgotten about them. Here, Danielle takes the music business solo, with her debut solo album “Back For More” and her debut solo single “Halo/Walking on Sunshine"

Group Issues

For the second time now, I have been left alone to do our work in Media. Both times, there have been no reason why Becky wasn't at school. I have adressed the issue before to make our group an easier enviroment to work in. I have been left alone to , put the video on a disk, ancillary research and to blog about the editing process.

Editing

I have just finished the editing stage of our process. Even though me and Becky have been working as a pair, I feel like I have done the majority of the work. I edited mostly by myself and Becky had little imput in to the task.

The editing stage of the draft went really well. Even though some of our shots are no where near as good as we want them to be in our final music video, I have complete faith that we will be able to ammend these shots. For example when we use Stop Motion Stills, the setting of the images need to be exactly the same because otherwise the effect doesn't work.

As well has having a storyboard, we are also going to have a shot list of the different shots we are going to have because we actually need even more of a variation of shots.

Research album covers

This one is slightly different to the other one as it is a face shot instead of a full picture. You still get the idea that she is a solo artist. This also shows her personality and represents her type of music. By using the fire effect on her sun glasses and her brightly coloured lip stick. This again has contrasting colours with her brightly coloured hair and lip stick and then the black/ dark blue around her. I feel that having a closeup image of just her face can be very itence and invasive but by her having her glasses on it keeps that back.

Filming

Over the half term week, I didn't have much to blog about. I found that actually the main thing left to do was filming. Organising filming alone, turned out to be much harder than I ever imagined.

We originally had the idea of having 6 people in our video. One girl, being the main focus. Obviously we needed a time to film which suited every person. The plan was to film the week we got back after half term but unfortunately we could find no day which fitted everyones needs. Instead of this, we filmed the following saturday, and had planned to film the tuesday afterwards. This was film with all of our actors.

Filming on the saturday went as bad as it possibly could. The camera we used was playing up and then the tape we were using ran out of room. All the shots we had done kept resetting themselves so after 2 hours of filming, we had no shots. This was possibly the worst thing that could of happened.

It is now tuesday morning as I am typing this. We have arranged to film from 2:30pm til 5:00 tonight. We are planning on doing both interior and exterior shots. We have booked the main hall, with tierd seating out, so that we can use in there to film and have also planned out a good time to film the exterior shots when there will be less people around getting into the shots.

I shall let you know what goes on Mr Blogger!

Saturday filming

We organised to film on saturday with 4 dancers. We came across a few problems such as one of the dancers was late and we didnt have much time to do it anyway. Then the tape messed up so we are unsure if we had actually recorded any footage. The positive that came out of this was that were had staged quite a few of the outside shots with the dancers, so when we come to do it next time the dancers will no what do to and we wont have to teach it them again. As a result of this we have arranged to film in our free last lesson as well as after school.
